AUTHOR SANEL HUSKANOVIC / CATEGORY RESTAURANTS - BEST RESTAURANTS NEW YORK

I would trade the world's greatest sunset for a view of the New York skyline.

- Ayn Rand -

Exceptional restaurants in New York! New York was intended for people who appreciate life from a bird's perspective. Forget all the stories and talk about building skyscrapers because of lack of space. The truth is: Everyone on this planet wants to have a wonderful view when they party, eat, or live, and there is no shortage of that in New York. Here are tips for 10 restaurants in New York with a view where the food plays almost a secondary role, not necessarily for foodies , and that you can visit for tanning days, engagements or similar occasions.

It should be enough if I say that the restaurant is on the 60th floor. The views and service are the first things that will impress you about Manhattan. However, once you get settled in, you'll also appreciate the smaller details. Like the fact that this restaurant - an attractive place at the height of a hot air balloon - has enough space between tables to drive a car through.

While the location in Manhattan is unlike anything else in the city, I can't say the same for the menu. It's a three-course prix fixe and you can choose from around six traditional French dishes for each course. Almost all of them are very well executed, but none of them are particularly exciting. It's a little disappointing that a place with such an incredible setting offers fairly predictable food overall, at least a vegetarian option.

The good news: Nothing you eat here will keep you up at night, nor will any feeling of buyer's remorse. The price is $88, including catering - there's a great bar here too - and by the time you're halfway through a plate of Wagyu and a bottle of French Malbec, you'll have foie gras behind you and vanilla souffle in front of you Look out over the city as if you were experiencing Google Earth in VR. You'll whisper under your breath, "It's a pretty good deal ."

To say that an evening at the windows at Ground Zero on the 107th floor of One World Trade Center's North Tower is all about the food would be to say that a Mets game is all about the hot dogs. Sure, you were there to eat, but you were mostly there for the view and to be in awe. At One Dine, with its panoramic views of the city, New York is the main course.

As the highest restaurant in the Western Hemisphere, New American atop One World Trade Center offers a seasonal menu and cocktails with views of Manhattan and New Jersey. Advance reservations are required. Note that a ticket is required to climb to the observatory on the 101st floor.

In the 1960s, when no one but rats, longshoremen and gangsters needing to get rid of a wayward bookmaker saw much value in the Brooklyn waterfront, Michael O'Keeffe saw romance. He saw enough flowers for a year's prom, he saw a piano player massaging a Steinway, he saw a glass curtain framing the Brooklyn Bridge and the lights of Fortress Manhattan on the other side. He saw all of this floating on a barge in the East River. After 12 years of asking for permission, he persuaded City Hall to finally see what he saw, and in 1977 the River Café dropped anchor, destined to become the best cafe with a view.

As before, the River Café is reached by driving down a paved driveway with lanterns and a small forest of plants on either side, as if Snow White's house were at the end of the street. The entrance enchants a large number of hikers who follow the winding road and are turned away only because they do not have a jacket (mandatory for men) or reservations (for everyone). Those granted access cross a short path to the floating dining room, where captains in black tuxedos stand guard. Right flowers; On the left, a pianist who gently belts out ballads for hours without ever needing a break. He doesn't sing, but memory deepens the words: When I'm close to you, dear, the stars fill the sky. So in love with you on I.

peak nyc restaurant, the edge viewing platform

Peak rises one level above Edge - the highest observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. Forget any preconceptions you may have about View restaurants.

The food at Peak, a 930-square-foot gem on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards, is so good that you almost forget about the impressive views. The à la carte menu is better than the offerings at many of America's most revered modern street-level restaurants. Plus, Peak is reasonably priced (three-course dinner around $100 per person), although it comes with a side dish of stunning views of Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey - plus a view of the Atlantic Ocean.

First of all, if you're one of those conceited snots then it's best to skip this point, I'm about to get personal and insulting. People who imagine they are better than others and claim "it's too Turi-like for me" are always wrong, not in New York but on the planet. Something is good or bad everything else is tabularaza. Although this falls into the category of tourists' favorite restaurants that New Yorkers usually avoid, New Yorkers like the Village best.

This place is an experience, don't worry about finding a good seat - it's the only rotating restaurant in New York that does a full revolution every hour, giving the entire dining room the full panorama. The food is good, ok......The fixed price dinner and brunch buffet menus in the restaurant offer American/Continental cuisine.

Restaurants near Central Park - The view of Central Park, Broadway and Columbus Circle is great, the food wasn't my first choice and the room looks so colorful that I was afraid of having an epileptic seizure.

These few lines are just as bland as this place but perhaps worth a try, as we know taste can be debated. The good thing is your meal voucher gives you discounted entry to the museum below and reduced prices in the gift shop.

7. Gaonnuri

I came here knowing nothing other than it was way up there and served Korean food. Unlike the typical K-Town restaurant, this one is as sparkling and immaculate as it gets. It's a huge space, multiple rooms and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bright lights of Manhattan. Food with a view!

Gaonnuri is a bit like a restaurant from the movie WALL • E, with waiters carrying iPads and earbuds. The menu is insane - it's almost seven pages long and covers all the Korean bases. The dishes from these many sites are hit or miss. Some, like the steak tartare, are great. But others, like a dry bossam and an underground bibimbap, are not recommended. The pace and general service is a bit odd, and interacting with staff can be difficult. Must be the iPads.

8. Hudson Eats

New York is not a cheap place and here it is possible to enjoy a beautiful view, especially of the Hudson River, even with less money.

Food courts are increasingly popular: Hudson Eats at Battery Park's Brookfield Place may offer the most affordable way to enjoy stunning water views while eating a good meal. Well-known vendors include Blue Ribbon Sushi, burrito spot Dos Toros and barbecue chain Mighty Quinn's. Look for prime seating during times that aren't usual for office workers. On warm days you can go to one of the bars along the Hudson afterwards.

9. Celestine

View 🏙 🏙 🏙 🏙

Price 💰 💰 💰

Food 🥘 🥘 🥘

Celestine is a Mediterranean restaurant with panoramic views of the city, the Manhattan Bridge and all the wedding venues in Brooklyn Bridge Park . The dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows that open, and the tables on the outdoor terrace exude the distinctive smell of sea air with a hint of pollution.

This certainly isn't the only waterfront restaurant in Dumbo suitable for holiday cards and new profile pictures. But most of these other Dumbo places are club restaurants that got lost on the way to Miami, and Celestine feels much more like a neighborhood. The wood for the wood stove is stacked in the middle of the dining room, and instead of indistinguishable club beats and servers trying to reward you with an overpriced bottle of California Merlot, Celestine plays Sly & The Family Stone and has casual servers guiding you through their various Find out more about wines from Slovenia.

If the food at Celestine - a rotating selection of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes - tasted as good as the surroundings, then this would be one of the places I would recommend to everyone. But overall it's hit or miss. Some dishes, like the very rich morel risotto with poached egg, are good. Others, like the flatbread with so much za'atar it tastes like it's been dipped in a mixture of Maldon salt and ancient weeds, are not.

Anywhere else in the neighborhood, these failures might make you wish you were somewhere else. But with Celestine the thought won't cross your mind. You're having dinner on the river and you didn't have to make a reservation two months in advance, wear a tie, or propose to anyone to be here.
