One of the things that's probably on many of you's New York "to-do list" is going to a Broadway show . The stars of the show include Tony Shaloub (known from “Monk”), Katrina Lenk (known from the series “The Black List”) and Ariel Satchel (known from the Netflix series “Jessica Jones”). Music and lyrics are by David Yazbek , the script by Itmar Moses , direction by David Cromer and the choreographies are developed by Patrick McCullom . “ The Band's Visit ” is a funny and moving show about an Egyptian police band who, after a performance, are sent to the border of a remote village in the heart of the Israeli desert. The bus won't reach its destination before dawn and the band is surprised that they don't see a single hotel on their way. Instead, they receive a friendly welcome from many villagers. This unexpected, charming adventure changes the band members' lives.
Ben Brantley of The New York Times said this musical is the best for him this season. The musical has already won several awards.
This is not only because of the interesting content but also because of the great music. The New York Times critic also rated the music as a “harmonious shimmer that makes the heart stop beating.”
