Waking up and eating pizza is no longer a dream or fantasy. Pizza is delicious, breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, that's what one of the best chefs in New York thought and combined the tasty with the useful and created the breakfast pizza.
Below you will find some of my favorite breakfast pizza places.
THE RITZ PIZZA @ SPEEDY ROMEO, $20
Speedy Romeo isn't afraid to put anything on a pizza - they don't even stop at Katz's Pastrami - so they quickly jumped on the breakfast pizza trend and added Ritz to their menu. The pizza is basically a hangover sandwich with ham, egg and cheese.
Speedy Romeo is located at 376 Classon Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn and 63 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side, Manhattan.
FUNGHIi Y UOVO @ LADY'S, $18
This Downtown Brooklyn newcomer is one of the number one brunch spots and offers an excellent selection. There are two egg-based pizzas on the weekends, including a vegetarian Funghi y Uovo ($18) with a pile of fried mushrooms seasoned with thyme and a slightly crispy fried egg on top. They also have a bacon, egg and cheese pizza ($18) topped with mozarella di bufala, farm ham and a fresh chicken egg.
Lady's is located at 572 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn.
PATATE ALLA CARBONARA @ MARTA, $23
The Union Square restaurant offers super-thin-crust Roman pizzas. The standout is the biacnhe selection, "Patata alla carbonara" ($23, available for brunch, lunch and dinner). That's right - it's all the good things from pasta alla carbonara (plus potatoes), but on a pizza.
Marta is located at the Redbury Hotel at 29 E 29th Street in the Flatiron District
SWEET GOODNESS, NUTELLA PIZZA @ BABBALUCCI, $12
With chocolate hazelnut spread, mixed berries, and Greek yogurt, this pizza is technically found on the dessert menu page at this Harlem Italian restaurant, but it can be ordered for brunch—and why not? Everyone loves Nutella.
