New York City is the city of dreams and it is especially pretty at night when all the great buildings like the Empire State Building ( tickets ) or One World Trade Center ( tickets ) are lit up. Not to mention the crazy and energetic Times Square ! A night walk in the Big Apple is a very special experience that you should put on your “ to-do list ”.
However, due to all the “light pollution”, it is not so easy to see the starry sky . Anyone who says that this is absolutely not possible in New York is not correct. New York , the city of unlimited possibilities, also has very special places for romantic star lovers where you can enjoy them alone or together with your loved ones. Our recommendation is to try the High Line for this activity.
The High Line was originally railroad tracks that were formerly used to transport industrial goods to and from the Chelsea district (Meet packing District). Chelsea has now become one of the most fashionable and expensive districts in Manhattan and the train tracks have not been used for a long time. In a project, this High Line was then converted piece by piece into a park where you can go for a walk or jog.
What's particularly great is that there are many telescopes set up here that you can use to observe the stars even better. And it gets even better… It’s all free! :) This opportunity is offered to you every Tuesday from the beginning of April to October 31st from sunset to 9:30 p.m. And right now in the fall you can experience a very magical night there on the High Line.
Please note: The event will be canceled if it rains or snows. You can find information about this on the High Line homepage .
The event is organized by an organization called “ Amateur Astronomers in New York .” The members will help you set the telescope correctly and show you stars and planets. At the same time, you also have the opportunity to talk to real New Yorkers! :) Americans are generally very hospitable and open-minded and are happy to tell you about their life in New York . You are particularly happy to give restaurant recommendations.. :)
The event will take place at the “ Diller-von Furstenberg Sundeck ,” which is located on the High Line at 14th Street .
And when you're done exploring space, you can stay right in the corner and find lots of great restaurants and bars .
We wish you a magical experience :)
