On November 8, 2021, the Biden administration lifted the ban on entry into the United States for vaccinated international travelers. On December 2nd, the rules were tightened due to the new “Omicron” variant and from March 7th, 2022 there is no requirement to vaccinate or wear a mask on site in New York. All details are explained below.

Which requirements apply ?
Everyone who wants to enter the country must be fully vaccinated but must not present a negative COVID test as of June 12, 2022.
How does the control work?
The airline checks the passengers before boarding the plane, USA border authorities usually do not check proof of vaccination.
What does fully vaccinated mean?
- 2 weeks (14 days) after an accepted single-dose COVID-19 vaccination
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series
- 2 weeks (14 days) after you have received 2 doses of any “ mix-and-match ” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart

Do I need to take a test before leaving the US?
Since June 12, 2022, there has been no obligation to test for anyone entering or leaving the country.
Free testing stands are set up at almost all tourist attractions in New York.

As of March 7, the mask or vaccination requirement for indoor business customers has been lifted in New York State, including New York City .
Your European proof of vaccination in conjunction with your driving license/ID card will be accepted normally everywhere, on your mobile phone or printed out.

In my experience: On site in New York, you haven't really been asked for proof since yesterday (March 5, 2021). Every restaurant, every attraction and every bar I've been to doesn't require proof of vaccination or wearing a mask. Masks are required at some Broadway shows .
In almost all stores, most customers wear masks as they please, I personally do it that way and have only been asked to put the mask on once in all this time.
