Finding a hotel in the Big Apple for a family vacation can be overwhelming.

New York is known for having expensive rooms, and the larger rooms and suites are no exception. Check out the list to compare benefits and family-friendly amenities so you get the most bang for your buck and the most comfortable stay for the whole family. Here are five hotels that I found to be particularly family-friendly.

The European hotel chain Melia brings some of the Spanish sunshine from its seaside resorts to Manhattan with its flagship Innside New York NoMad. USB charging ports and a complimentary refreshment center for the thirsty and adults put guests' needs first, while the Impero Caffè restaurant will delight even the pickiest eater with its "soulful Italian cuisine." The larger rooms at this West 27th St. address include the 55-square-foot Family Room, which features a king bed for parents alongside two double beds for the children. Little ones need no other reminder that they are in New York, New York when they wake up and look at the iconic Empire State Building.

Families will enjoy the residential feel of this hotel, which will quickly feel like home. Omni Berkshire Place is close to Fifth Avenue shopping, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and Broadway theaters. Children will love the Omni Sensational Kids program: Upon check-in, your child will receive a backpack with toys, books and games to borrow for their stay. Children can also look forward to milk and cookies on the first night, delivered directly to their room.

In addition, all rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, safes, drawers under the bed, desks, plug-in technology devices (you can connect the phone to the TV to listen to Spotify or watch Netflix!), side charging stations, long-lasting Phenolic resin furniture, free Wi-Fi and self-regulating air conditioning. In the bathrooms, moms and dads will love the smoked glass bathroom showers and large mirrored walls that create an illusion of added depth.

Artists and art lovers will love the creative flair of this SoHo family favorite. James offers kid-friendly menus, a wide selection of books, classic board games and children's films, as well as a special milk and cookie turndown service. Cots and baby bathtubs are available upon request. Bicycles, bike seats and helmets are available for families who want to explore the city on two wheels. A rooftop pool is the ultimate.
