The new East River ferry network in New York

The Staten Island Ferry was the only ferry system that operated on an organized schedule. The city of New York is changing that; it is now possible to reach all parts of the city by water . Around 4.6 million passengers are expected annually, tourists and locals. Since the streets and subways are now completely overloaded, this project was the logical consequence.

Since May 1st there has been a connection from Manhattan to the Rockaway peninsula , where the city's famous beach is located, in the borough of Queens and via the East River to Long Island City in Queens and to Brooklyn.

There are also stops in the south of Brooklyn and in the north of Queens, from the south of Manhattan to the Bronx.

Cost and how it works

The ticket costs the same as a subway ride: $2.75 , regardless of the route, no matter how far and long it is. $1.00 extra if you want to take your bike or surfboard with you. There are two variations: single trip or monthly ticket, which costs 121.00 US dollars. Wifi is available free of charge on board.
